Anyone could tell you that Taylor Swift's greatest strength is Her songwriting, so it makes sense that "All Too Well" takes the top spot here. The song is a masterful composition, containing approximately two dozen contenders for the title "Best Lyric Taylor Swift Has Ever Written." The song brings its listeners to the aftermath of a break-up, and we follow Taylor like the Ghost of Christmas Past as She walks us through the precious memories borne of the relationship. We hear Her sing in the car, meet Her boyfriend's proud mother, dance in the refrigerator light, and feel our heart break like a promise that will never be kept. As Taylor sings "I'm a crumpled up piece of paper laying here," you can't help but picture Her, mascara running, sitting in the middle of a bed in a darkened room, surrounded by the crumpled pages of failed drafts of this song. It's a stark and powerful image, and a fictitious one (She supposedly composed this song onstage during a Speak Now Tour rehearsal). The song's devotion to Her memories of this relationship reflect the mission statement of Her career: capture it, remember it.

HER OPUS
Quite possibly the single best song released by any of the pop girls this decade, "Enchanted" is an absolutely magical country-pop masterpiece. The song transcends the cliches of songs that address love at first sight, as She offers the enchantingly poetic line, "The lingering question kept me up, 2 a.m., who do you love?" The song packs a powerful chorus, and builds up to a bridge bursting with yearning as She repeats, "Please don't be in love with someone else."
