Christina Aguilera’s management confirmed this morning that the pop superstar would be unable to proceed with her second Melbourne concert tonight (Saturday 28 July) as originally scheduled for health reasons.

A doctor confirmed late last night that the singer was running a fever and advised her to rest.

A number of Christina’s touring party have come down with bad colds and the flu over the past few days as the Christina’s Back To Basics tour draws to the end of an extensive World Tour.

Fans with tickets to attend tonight’s concert are now scheduled to see Christina Aguilera on Sunday 29 July at Rod Laver Arena. Their current ticket and seat location will still apply and they do not need to do anything bar turn up with their original ticket.

Those unable to attend the rescheduled date may secure a refund from Ticketek 132 849.

amazing that she´s just postpone it one day tho, despite having fever!....she wont let the fans down...good thing the tour is almost over....i hope she´s able to perform all 3 melbourne shows and the finishing two new zealand shows (all sold out!)

Yeah, what i love about Come On Over though is that its a timeless pop song. I can really imagine if it was to come out today! Not many songs can do that ... like Baby One More Time sounds so outdated now.

i have to agree, it sounds good even today... but have you heard the original album version? it was really lame compared to the single...and it was actually mostly christina herself that mastered the remix for the single, i´m glad she did

in a mail to one person at the christina aguilera-fanboard on "live daily", shelly (christina´s mom) confirmed that christina is pregnant, and christina is fine tho she´s having a mad cold (she can hardly speak)....but now it´s OFFICÍAL!

The Frontier Touring Company regret that after on-going consultation with a team of doctor’s Christina Aguilera will be unable to proceed with a rescheduled Saturday 28 July concert and now her Monday 30 July concert.

It has become apparent that Christina will not be well enough to perform her last two Melbourne shows. Doctor’s have confirmed Christina has a viral upper respiratory tract infection with a high fever and abnormal coughing. They have prescribed complete bed rest for the next few days.

Christina Aguilera asked for the following message to be passed onto fans.

"I want to personally apologize to all of my fans for having to cancel my last two shows here in Melbourne. Unfortunately, I have fallen ill with a bad flu virus. This is one of the best cities in the world to perform in and I am truly disappointed that I won't be able to share my show with you all. Thank you for all of the continued love and support and I hope to perform for you all again next time."

Promoter Michael Gudinski said Christina was understandably distressed at upsetting fans that had bought tickets to her final two Melbourne concerts.

“Christina is a real trouper. She is a talented artist who puts her all into her concerts and she is devastated that she can’t perform her remaining concerts in Melbourne.”

Christina’s live concerts are vigorous performances.

A number of Christina’s touring party have fallen ill while in Australia. Australia and New Zealand are the end of an extensive world tour.

Ticket holders for Christina’s two cancelled Melbourne concerts can seek a refund from their original point of purchase.
