I think they want sales coz wmn? Was outshining OG and OG which was the main single hasnt been able to go #1 and they saw this week as its last chance.
A #1 song with a good performance at the AMAs and the new album out... It can give a second life to the song and good publicity to the album.
Also... The .99$ price is only this weekend.... It will be back to normal next week
OG will be #1. RYG isn't selling enough over it to take the #1 anymore, & WMN? will make a very nice jump but I don't think it will be enough to go #1 again. Especially now with the removal of the single version.

It won't be as impressive as replacing the second single with the lead single at #1 from the same artist.
Itunes #12- GRENADE (it's coming for the top ten)
also #6- **** you
this is a great week...but I'm ticked at the 99 cent OG. I think it's a cheap way to reach #1. I feel like she'll get the #1, but she didn't earn it bc she had to "cheat" to get it. (still love rihanna though)
I guess I was wrong - Def Jam does care about #1s as much as the fans.
They care about chart positions just as much as sales because generally they're related. Rihanna already has 8 #1s, it's realistic to expect her to break Mariah's record if she can keep the streak going.
its nt cheating by lowering the price......... it was actuali reali clever + the wmn deletion move. def jam r doin gd dis era
I don't think it's cheating either. If it works other people might do it in future. Record labels have had a tendency to exclusively use the most expensive price in the three tier system since it has been introduced. There's been a few exceptions in the UK where I recall songs charting on the lowest price. Ellie Goulding is currently, Katy Perry and 3OH!3 did too. Ellie's #1 with a huge lead so it has paid off. I'd like to see labels in the US slashing prices too boost sales.
