VMAs have never really been about the awards. I don't even remember GaGa's 2010 VMA domination being very discussed. More people talked about her meat dress.

Katy certainly didn't wear anything headline-grabbing. Katy's first outfit was nice, but her second outfit was terrible. It looked like she was wearing cheese. No one dressed as bad as Nicki Minaj though.

My only problem with Katy is that most of her songs have the same type of sound AKA Dr. Lukinch so it gets annoying really fast. That's the reason why CG and LFN never saw the light of day on my music player. Though I LOVE ET, WAILF & COD.

You're right. It's mostly about stunts, shock value and performances. Some of the awards are rather redundant, and the fan-voting method used in recent years do not make them any better. MTV doesn't even play music videos that often, so I'm still trying to understand why they are trying.
