Zendaya performs on The Ellen
After performing at a sold out short gig that was a part of Jimmy Kimmel Live show, Zendaya refuses to stop as she continues promoting her music all around the place. The good sis is pulling out all of her tricks as she is once again literally everywhere - she's been performing on every single show during these two past days, promoting her recently released single "Lost In Rehab". Now, she stops by The Ellen DeGeneres show to perform her song over there, and she also sat down with the host, Ellen, to have an interview. During the interview, Zendaya revealed a lot of things as she talked about various topics, starting with her Video Music Awards snub and ending with her music and upcoming sophomore album, which is scheduled to be released sometime in early August, as close sources report, because Zendaya is refusing to announce anything about this album and she is trying to keep everything as secretly as possible. And it seems like that is working, since there is no word on whenever it's getting released, and there is no word and it's title and tracklist. However, Zendaya openly talked about everything else, as she didn't keep any secrets and answered every single question that Ellen asked. However, she dodged the question that Ellen, about her alleged boyfriend, that she was spotted kissing on the beach in UK two or three weeks ago by smarly answering that she wants her private life to remain as private as possible. It seemed like this kind of answer didn't satisfy Ellen, but since she obviously wanted to hear the tea from Zendaya herself and bring those rating in with something controversial. For this television appearance, Zendaya was wearing the same outfit that she wore during her appearance on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live - she was rocking a white crop top, a matching jacket suit, simple white hat and she completed this look by wearing purple colored heels that were named after her by this weird designer that has a crush on Zendaya and calls her his musa. With those heels, Zendaya looked really tall, and since she is a beautiful girl, she looked like a real goddess in a mafia boss inspired outfit, but overall, she was slaying with her outfit indeed. During the "Lost In Rehab" performance, Zendaya basically gave it all as she served those average vocals and those amazing feelings. This song probably means a lot for Zendaya, or maybe she is just a good actress that can also act her feelings as well, but Zendaya probably made a lot of people cry, since she perfectly channelled the feeling and the theme of this song through her voice, and with those sad lyrics, it was sure a really groundbreaking and sad performance. The stage presentation was really minimal, probably because it's hard for everything and everyone to go up on that stage, and that's why Zendaya decided to show up on the stage alone, besides her live band somewhere in the back. Although the performance was really simple, but Zendaya probably knows how to do a good and entertaining performance without doing too much like these artists do lately, as she served a good performance by performing her mid-tempo hit. After this performance, Ellen, the host of the show, came up on stage to congratulate Zendaya as they hugged, and she also showed everyone a physical copy of "Lost In Rehab" and said that the song is now available to purchase now on iTunes and Amazon and that everyone will be able to purchase a physical version of the song at their local stores sometime this week as well. Then, they hugged once again and continued their little chat.
Ellen: How come you're such a down-to-earth person?
Zendaya: I come from a very normal, and simple family, and I had a simple childhood, and I think that is the reason why I'm such a down-to-earth person at the moment. Growing up, I wasn't treated like a different kid or whatever, I had to go to school, I had to do dishes, I had to do everything that all of the people do. And I think that this is the main reason that I'm this down-to-earth person at the moment, I talk to everyone, I don't have huge demands that other artists have. For example, I know some artists have the craziests demands, like, they want some crazy stuff in their dressing room during concerts, like, they want specific carpets, they want specific colors, they want crazy menu list, basically, just crazy stuff, while I like whatever people give to me, because I appreciate all of the things that they do to me, and I never demand for something more. All I need is a couple of pepsi cans, a comfortable chair infront of a mirror and that is basically it. I'm not really picky, so I don't care what they give me to eat - I basically appreciate and eat anything that they make for me! That's basically the main reason why I'm just a simple seventeen years old girl, and that's why I'm such a down-to-earth person.
Ellen: How are you planning to break out from your Disney girl image?
Zendaya: I think that I already did, actually. I think that my music is now actually more mature than ever, and I'm now not afraid to sing about more serious topics, I'm not singing about something that only teenagers care about. So I think I'm breaking out from this Disney girl image by putting out my new music. Some people actually expected me to pull something that Miley did, you know, they expected me to start acting crazy, but I don't think that will ever happen. I want to be taken seriously in a positive way, so I'm just slowly turning into an adult by not doing too much or not rushing everything. I think I'll just stick to doing my thing, and that way I plan to get rid of my Disney girl image. But honestly, it's not like I'm trying to get rid of it, I think that the image just goes away without trying to break out of it, and since I know I'm a role model to a lot of young girls from "Shake It Up" times, I know I have to don't do too much and still be a good role model to those girls.
Ellen: Um... What about that boyfriend of yours?
Zendaya: You know, um, I'm not really ready to talk about these kind of things. I'm still young and I'm experiencing a lot of things, and since I'm new to these things, I want to keep them private as much as possible. The private life is called private life for a reason, you know - you want to keep it as private as possible, because you already share a lot of things with the world, and you know what, I'm not sharing this thing with anyone else. And that's the end of this topic.
Ellen: Why don't you write your own songs?
Zendaya: I don't write my own songs because I'm not that good of a writer, you know. I once helped Rihanna with a remix version of her single, I helped her wrote it with Kelly Clarkson, Danity Kane, Britney Spears and Rihanna herself, but other than that, I never really write my own songs, but that is not a bad thing. Even though I don't write those songs, but all of those songs are about my life and about my friends and about the things that I experience - the writers that I get only write about the things that I tell them. So, every single song somehow related to me, in some way, and everything is just real on this upcoming new album. Every story means something to me.
Ellen: How did you feel when you found out you aren't nominated for a Video Music Award?
Zendaya: Of course, I felt a little bit sad, since me and Taylor worked really hard together on this video for "Gunshots", we basically did everything we could, and we were involved on it as much as possible, since we both directed it, we both edited it, and Taylor wrote the plot line. We picked every single detail together, you know, the color of the car, the actresses and actors, the place, the crew, the cameras, the programs, we basically did everything on our own, so I actually felt snubbed, honestly. But then again, everything happens for a reason, I think. We were snubbed this time, but we might get nominated for another, more important, award. So, we're not that bitter about everything. Although I was a bit mad over everything, over that snub, you know, but I'm over it now, for real. And I'll be attending the show like everyone else, I'll be cheering for my friends who are nominated for awards - Paige, Taylor, Rita, Azealia... And also, I'll be performing on that show as well, I'll be performing and doing a huge performance of my single "Lost In Rehab", the performance will be spectacular in my opinion, we've been rehearsing for this one for about three weeks now, since it's going to be huge. So yeah, I'm excited for Video Music Awards now, as well, since somehow, I'll be still involved in a way.
