It fits in her brand of looking forward to what we can do in 5 years and not being hold back by the limitations of right now.
The opposite are people limiting to the few notes of their range that they can use everyday in any situation
(including televised performances).
They probably also contract TV shows to not **** their sound up and probably put people there to take over the tech in the backstage to ensure the brand is shown in a positive way on national TV.
And they have teams taking down YouTube videos recorded with a potato potentially making the brand sounds bad. Katy can sound bad on YouTube while the crowd heard good vocals.
