I am going to be a bundle of nerves until the album releases.

No matter what they do it could be amazing, or it could go soooooo wrong.

Rock does not let itself to cheese. If they try to keep the cheese from their last two albums while adding more rock elements it could be a trainwreck.

I'd say Can't Let Her Go sounds like beach-pop, it's not really that rocky in my opinion. I can't even hear the rock influence from the snippet, sounds like one of their more pop-y songs.

I don't want them to go too far out of their field though. I had this discussion with Jungle about another artist and the idea of an dipping their toe in new water but still keeping themselves on safe ground and doing their typical thing at the same time, and honestly, a lot of the time it can be messy. They should stick to what they know.

I don't put my expectations high when it comes to their music, I use them for their catchy songs, and they don't disappoint with that for the most part. I didn't like their second album much but it did grow on me. Of course I would love for them to mature with this album, but I guess with them if it's not broke don't fix it.

Eh. It reminds me of She's So Mean by Matchbox Twenty. Which is fairly rock.

Naw, pure rock wouldn't work with the boys, at least with the lyrics as they are.

Electro-pop-rock with hints of R&B/Punk/Soul might be a better fit. Tracks need to step up lyrically that it won't put so much work on the instrumentals. Songs like Pompeii/We Are Young/Dark Side (Kelly Clarkson) are examples of this. It makes it a much better blended sound giving the boys a little more mature sound.

Their ballads need to be sort of like Moments/TDKAU with a midtempo piano/soft rock. IMO.

I don't know how people classify what counts as rock, but Can't Let Her Go seems like a good path they can do. I can't really add anything substantial to this convo so I'll just add a picture.

I'm not a fan of pop/rock. That's why I didn't care much for TMH. Would prefer another direction, tbh.
