Already Gone was no where near as ballady as Cry. It had a modern pop production that fit in with radio, something that Cry lacked. Even still, AG was never a smash, just a modest hit.

Biggest mistake during AIEW was releasing IDNHU. They should have either gone for AG as the second single, or released something in the same ear worm vein as MLWSWY, like IICHY or DLMSY.

Already Gone was never a smash ? I know a majority of expert that will say that it was a bigger hit then suck. Already Gone was the legs of All I Ever Wanted and it's currently Kelly's biggest recurrent airplay hit.

On the the topic of AIEW, I think we can agree that a good song, if pushed be the label, will pull through. I think Cry should have definitely been released, it's so beautiful, powerful and it's not a boy-bashing song. My only concern would be that the production is slightly over the top, so radios might not have been so quick to jump on board, like they did with AG, but the song deserved to be released. It's video would have been GOLD, and Kelly sounds so amazing on it

Don't Let Me Stop You (albeit generic for Kelly), Long Shot, and If I Can't Have You would have definitely been more successful than AIEW as the fourth single. What were RCA thinking?? And the single picture was only text It's disappointing that one single killed the era, especially when the succeeding single still did pretty well (just shy of Top 10 on BBHOT100). It seems RCA are more resilient this era though, so that's good for Stronger!

AG was a big hit. It's definitely sold more than 1.5mil by now. When a song crosses platinum, I count it as successful (IDHU did not). AG's success was just spaced out over a longer time (like Don't You Wanna Stay and Know It All), which is why it didn't peak in the top 10.

Either way, Stronger is doing better than AIEW was at this point in the era. I don't see it getting any worse, with the DS promo, RCA touching on Country territory, and Duets coming up. A little birdie also told me Kelly's getting back in shape too, she'll have all the guys drooling again in no time (not that I ever stopped ).

What **** are you talking? It may not be a smash. But it's definitely more than a modest hit. It has longevity on the charts which lws lacked. How does staying on top of hot Ac for 8weeks means then? Yes sales wise and peak position wise hot 100 means a lot. But peaking at 13 and stay on the hot 100 for 31 weeks means something.
