And actually for the record "EDM" actually broke into success much more this year than in previous years. Look at Clarity and I Love It, both EDM tracks. And Avicii's track I forgot the name of.
I love electronic music, so I'd love it from 1D. Even if they went the Owl City route (pre-Good Time) I'd love it. Even though it's a completely different vein of electronic music than what's "slaying".

I want the boys do a ballad like this. Ironic that they have a song by the same title. And it's a lot softer and production wise superior to 1D's TMD.
Oh and EDM is so last year on radio. I prefer the boys stick with variants of pop-rock/urban than go near a genre where even their vocals are trashed by the production mostly. They're not destined for a club airplay track.
