Gaga’s gone to painful degrees to remind everyone that she’s more than a simply few outlandish outfits and a handful of pop bangers, but by downplaying the pop genre as something that’s significant - and something in which she was a significant figure for nearly a decade - she’s insinuating that to be taken seriously as an artist, you can’t release pop music. Not only is this statement untrue, it reads as deeply hypocritical coming from a woman who once stated that ‘pop music will never be low-brow.’
