Remember one of the first time she talked about the new record? She said it was "West Coast-inspired". So that's probably why West Coast is the lead single--it very well could be the central, centerpiece song (though, I hope there is a song called Ultraviolence).

I also really would love BB and AFFA on the record they seem to fit (those two and WC are presumably all about Barrie).

I think the verses are about her leaving a lover to go to the west coast. She wants to go there to make her music, even though she avoids drinking because of her past (hence the first line). The chorus is her fantasizing about the man she could meet in L.A.

The pre-chorus reminds me a bit of Burning Desire, the chorus of Gods & Monsters, and the overall thing of Blue Jeans. But although none of these songs are really my favorites, she put the best parts together I think and made sort of a fantastic collage.

no offense, but i don't really like your interpretation, or agree with it (though, art is art, so you're entitled to it). still, the song tells of a very depressed man who she loves dearly--aka, it's probably about Barrie, since they've had a steady relationship for some time now. also, you wouldn't fantasize about the kind of relationship she describes in the chorus--it doesn't sound happy! haha
