when it comes to brand new music, yes. i can't accurately judge an album that i've been listening to for a day against one that has come out at the beginning of the year. initially i thought jay-z and kanye's watch the throne was a contender for one of the year's best, but after the newness factor wore off, repeated listens made it more boring and aggravating, and i went from listening to it in its entirety repeatedly the first few days to listening to a few songs over and over to now not even having a desire to listen to it at all. a classic album, to me, has to be a great album that stands the test of time. while a new album may seem good, even great upon first listen, it's hard to tell what i'll feel about it a week/month/year from now.
