Studies have actually shown that success is linked directly to social class. But social classes are generally linked to race. So it appears that success is decided by race, but it actually isn't.
If that didn't make sense, let me explain. Poor people are less likely to be successful. However, it just so happens that a lot of black people are poor. So it seems like "black people can't get ahead in this world," when the problem is really that "poor people can't get ahead in this world."
Of course the average white person may make more than the average black person because blacks are generally poorer than whites. A white male who grows up in the "ghetto" is not likely to make it any farther in life than his black counterparts.
The problem isn't with race.
