Why are the US charts so interesting? I live in the US so maybe I'm not realizing cause, but I feel like if I lived in another country I just wouldn't be interested because I don't actually witness the US, their hits, nor is the music really that popular (?) where I live.
I just always wondered why so many international people watched the US charts religiously. It's interesting.

I grew up watching MTVLA (MTV Latin America) and felt in love with the few countdowns they put on air), just like the moves, the trends, the competition...
Let's see. Hot 100 was the real conception of the popular countdowns. Through the years, they've been changing and getting more and more accurate to what really matters. It's really more complex, it's like detailed data of each song that proves it's big enough.
I'm a Venezuelan, and we don't get weekly sales since here is all about piracy, literally (plus, the CDs and actually even normal food and everything is extremely expensive

) And if we have an Airplay chart it's mainly based on payola tbh. I think radio is popular here, but not that much. And payola is real for some very important stations. Some persons confuse the real chart here, so imagine how irrelevant it is
Plus, almost all US radio hits also are played here, some more than another ones, but that gives you an idea to discover music first, etc
