Unapologetic is the real Rih. There has been no thug life this era and Rih has been serving class and vocals in all her (T.V.) performances this era unlike the Loud era where she kept attempting to deafen the poor viewers of many shows (SNL, Xfactor Italy, All Star Game, etc.) with awful renditions of Only girl.
Rihanna has always been about "thuglife" she been dragging people since LOUD, she always been a tomboy, she always caused trouble, she been calling herself "badgalRih" since before IG.
Just the media never made a big deal of her antics until recently.
But its true LOUD is clearly Rihs most label made album. None of the songs reflect Rihanna as a person, although i love some of the songs it doesn't come off as a genuine album Rih helped put together. Out of all 11 songs Rihs not even listed as a co-writer once, that says a lot.

All her WMN performances are beautiful and her CKB performances are near perfect.. UNA is a contradiction in itself. A cute album some worthy bops but it isn't better than LOUD

Rih is sassy sweet and flirty and so is Unapologetic.
The label didn't like the image Rihanna was going with for GGGB they wanted to keep up with the island look, they didn't even want her to cut her hair and they wanted to continue with the whole Bey vs Rih thing.
Just b/c guides the project in a direction does not mean that it does not reflect the artist. Rih has had ~200 demos for LOUD
And I'm sure since she was the executive produce that she choose the songs that she like and what she thinks her fans will enjoy just like all her albums. Even Unapologetic
