JUNE 16-22, 2013 • EDITION #6
In lieu of the screencaps which is mainly due to the crappy internet connection I've been experiencing for the past 2 days, I'll be providing a short write-up regarding this week's countdown.
Propelled by a sudden resurgence in play count midweek, Paramore zooms from #11 all the way to the summit of The Powercount to register their second frame at #1. This makes them the second act to spend at least 2 weeks on top, sharing the record with Imagine Dragons. "Still Into You," the second single from the band's 2013 album also holds the record for having the biggest leap to #1.
Last week's kings, "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk f/ Pharrell is bumped to #2 after spending a week at #1. The track remains to be the highest charting collaboration for the week. Two spots behind it is another collab that also features Pharrell -- "Blurred Lines," led by Robin Thicke, dips a couple to #4.
Jason Derulo manages to climb back to #3 after falling to #7 last week, thanks to a one-day rule on Tuesday. "The Other Side" peaked at #2 four weeks ago. Meanwhile, unmoved at #5 is Jake Miller with "A Million Lives", the track has been steady for three consecutive weeks.
Greatest gainer award goes to Carrie Underwood, as "See You Again" shoots 13 places up after debuting last week. The track has consistently charted in the contention the entire week. It leaps over 3 former top fivers, "Demons" by Imagine Dragons which slides to #7, Maroon 5's "Love Somebody" which continues to plummet at #8, and Lawson's "Brokenhearted" at #9. Rounding up the top ten is OneRepublic's "Counting Stars," which manages to enter the upper half only on its second week.
Other notable tracks in the top twenty include the re-entry of 30 Seconds To Mars' "Up In The Air" which exited couple of weeks ago. Just a spot behind it is the highest new entry this week courtesy of Bruno Mars. "Treasure" becomes Bruno's first appearance in the Powercount ever since the chart began 6 weeks ago.
