“Where are all the men in this town?” Shakira wails on her
third English-language album. “Did they all run off when they
knew that I was coming round?” You could hardly blame them
if they did. The hip-swinging Colombian answer to Beyoncé
may be an international sex symbol, but she also seems a
little bonkers. For evidence I present the title hit, in which she
compares herself both to a lycanthrope trapped in a closet
and an abused coffee machine in an office (no, I have no
idea what that’s about either), while howling and panting
lasciviously.
She Wolf is the kind of addictively gimmicky pop that blends
incongruous elements into something whose apparent
wrongness only adds to its perfection. Subterranean 70s
disco bass, heavy breathing and wolf noises: why did
nobody think of it before?

I love BMTH and I cant deny it, it is one of my favorite
bands in the world ![heart2](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/a3fdf692.gif)
Bring Me The Horizon is just "a dude playin’ another
dude disguised as another dude;" basically their
brand of metalcore takes some pointers from bands
like Slipknot, Gallows, and The Devil Wears Prada
and mixes them all into one cohesive noise.
Suicide Season is a ten track deathtrap produced
by Fredrik Nordstrom (At The Gates, Arch Enemy) in Sweden.
The production is seamless and crystal clear; the riffs rip
through each song and Oliver Sykes unforgiving screams
screech throughout the album. For being so young,
Bring Me The Horizon knows how to play their instruments,
staying tight and unpredictable in each track.

Flyleaf is an alternative-rock band from Texas. Their 2005
platinum selling debut album Flyleaf was lead by the
success of their single "I'm So Sick". Flyleaf has returned
with their sophomore effort, Memento Mori which translates
in Latin to "be mindful of death", or "remember you will die".
While hard rock is usually the territory of lyrics about
interpersonal struggles, on Memento Mori, Flyleaf focuses
on spiritual struggles and devotional lyrics. On the range of
mainstream artists, who happen to be Christians, Flyleaf falls
closer to P.O.D. than Chevelle. Their lyrics have pretty
unmistakable meanings and references. Some Christians
would likely scoff if they heard how hard the band's music is
at times or one of the occasional screams. But, the inner
battles, spiritual warfare, and redemptive lyrics are actually
perfect material for a hard rock album. And on one track in
particular, the hard rock and the inspirational message
clash beautifully.

I Gotta feeling that 2010 is gonna be a huge year for La Roux.
The first time you hear La Roux's opening shot, In For the Kill,
there doesn't seem to be much to it. But as this song's
inexorable progress up the download chart has testified,
that very absence of apparent content has a strangely addictive
quality. There's an intriguing synthetic wheeze lurking in the
upper reaches of Jackson's vocal range. Those who feared
this effect might pall over a whole album will find solace in the
unexpected emotional intensity of her lower register.

The guys in The Used have accomplished quite a bit,
and have a lot they can be proud of. Over the course of
their career they’ve written a number of great songs and
released a collection of diverse albums. This diversity,
coupled with a great live show, helped their albums
achieve gold and even platinum status and allowed
them to headline around the globe. Despite these
accomplishments, though, the one thing the band hadn’t
pulled off was an album that didn’t contain any
filler – although Lies for the Liars came close. It turns
out that they just needed one more attempt in order to
finally reach that goal because Artwork consists entirely
of great songs and it is, again, slightly different than
previous albums. The Used have taken the best elements
of their previous releases, refined them and delivered the
strongest album of their career – an album that displays a
subtle maturity in their songwriting that requires more than a
single passive listen to fully grasp. The strong choruses are
there to draw the listener in, but beneath that is a layer of musical
complexity that will lend this album a longevity that should keep
people coming back for more.
