Yes. Radios started spinning RITD in late September and even though it didn't have a significant performance, it managed to outsell massive radio hits like WFL (I'm not sure it has yet, but it surely will).

SLY started blowing up on radios in December and it is still one of the most played and requested songs on the most important station in the country. It even did well on the singles chart, which considering Adele is more of an album seller and singles sales are minimal here, it's great.

21 ended up as the fifth best selling album of 2011. Albums #1, 2, 3 and 4 were Spanish acts, so that number is extremely good.

The Grammys gave her another popularity boost. Everybody was talking about her the days after on the news and the radio. She's the most covered artist on talent TV shows too.

Yeah. They didn't televise them. They could only televise relatively minor awards because only a few nominees actually showed up.

Well, most of the nominees and winners weren't there. Where was Rihanna, Gaga, Lil Wayne, Beyonce?

It might seem rude not to show up, but the Billboard Awards are now seen as a D-list award show. I'm sure she was happy with her wins, but I don't really have any problems with her not showing up when others didn't. Adele only really shows up to the big award shows.

Adele's 21 holds at #2. Adele didn't attend the Billboard Music Awards, even though she was a cinch to sweep the awards. I can appreciate that Adele is probably tired of picking up awards for this album. She has probably run out of clever things to say and is probably starting to worry about overexposure. But everybody has to do things sometimes that they don't want to do. When you're the hottest artist on the planet, showing up when Billboard (or the Grammys) wants to shower you with awards is something you just can't skip. Adele, I assure you the "problem" of all these awards shows wanting to fete you is a "problem" that will go away by itself soon enough. It always does. So next time, show up.

I don't think Adele is tired of picking up awards for 21. Otherwise, she wouldn't take pictures of her playing with her trophies. Plus, she just attended the Ivor Novello.


She probably didn't attend because the Billboard Awards are D-list now.

^ to be fair, the Ivor Novellos are just down the road from her. The Billboards are half the world away and she wouldn't want to fly all the way there just to mingle with the likes of LMFAO.

^Or she's trying to avoid a backlash of some sort. They say after you have huge success and are overexposed, you experience some sort of backlash. So, it might be smart for her to lay low until she is ready to put out new music, which is this year. I kinda wish she would have attended the show, though. It could have been a big moment. But it's not that big of a deal for me since I wasn't home to even watch more than three minutes of the show.
