Otherwise, I think it did an amazing job of translating the source material. The Capitol was very similar to how I envisioned it! And Effie was fantastic. I'm still not a huge fan of Josh Hutcherson but he did Peeta justice I think.

I don't get why people complain so much about Madge. She's not even essential to the story. She's only brought up like 3-4 times in total from the 3 books.

Mostly just to people who have read the book first. Isn't anything major though, I would like to see anybody else try to fit in all the material in this book into 2 1/2 hours of film.

I watched it today and it's actually quite good! The only problem is that sometimes situations are presented without many introductions or explanations, they just show it once/twice and that's it. Like the relationship of the two main characters... it's not very convincing.

I think I'd give it a 7.5 or something like that...

I agree here You mean Katniss and Gale's relationship.It could have used a scene or more to establish how close they actually are.

Gale plays much bigger parts in Catching Fire and Mockingjay. Knowing it helps in the "love triangle" in the trilogy and while not the sole motivator of Katniss' choices later, helps to see why she's conflicted if we know why her relationship with Gale is the way it is.

I think if I never read the book I would have never gotten that Katniss was pushing the Peeta romance like in the cave for the cameras/to survive.

Wow, thinking about it more the ending scene kind of bothered me. When Katniss tells Peeta that they should forget it all that scene should've been just a little longer and made it clear that Katniss did not have the same feelings that Peeta did.

This is my view on the book/movie.

A LOT of the entire 3 books is Katniss' own thoughts. It's all one long exposition, and memory, of her experience in the world she lives in. Fictional, of course, but it's all told through her thought process and mind.

Sidenote: Do you girls really think THIS much about things?

Anyway, the thoughts of any character must be SHOWN on film. We can't see what they're thinking.

The movie gave some hints to Katniss playing the "games" of the romance. Haymitch talks to Seneca about it, there's the note, and Peeta's final comment. It's all there, but subtle.

Films must SHOW. Books are free to let you see what characters THINK.

I still loved it, and it lived up to the hype... But the reader is the harshest critic. I still like it though, I actually boughtmyself a pin at the theatre, they were selling them

I just got back from seeing the movie with my friend, I haven't read the book and wasn't familar with the series at all and I really enjoyed it. Some parts were a little confusing to me so I had to ask my friend what was the meaning of some thing but overall I felt that Jennifer did beyond amazing with her role, she has such a strong ability to make you believe that she is the ultimate female warrior, she is just a bad bitch.

Sidenote: They showed the Twilight trailer before the movie and at the end Kristen Stewart peaked out from a tree and everyone in the theatre busted out laughing.

I was blown away by the movie and I did NOT have high expectations. I saw it only cuz my gf wanted to, but I'm actually so glad I did! It didn't feel rushed OR too slow to me; the pacing was perfect. And all of the actors did a great job, and the depictions of all the main places/characters were perfect! Very impressive!

The movie was amazing. I was really impressed with Jennifers performance (bitch deserves an oscar) and the Rue scene moved me to tears. They did a great job adapting it and yes a few parts may have been missed/rushed but overall they did an amazing job with the time they had. The only thing that should of been made more clear is that Katniss was (partially) faking it for the camera. Can't wait for Catching Fire

Amazing. Never read the books, but I'm going to now!!! Best movie I've seen in years. Everything about it was epic and it moved me greatly. Finally a movie we all can look back upon and tell our kids kids about...

Wait there's people complaining about the film?

I guess it's true, going in open minded leaves a better impression on any book-to-movie adaption. I think it's better to see the movie first THEN read the book, not the other way around, because most book readers are close minded and they leave the theater thinking they left too much out of the book and say it's a bad movie or it could've been better.

Because if you read the books now, you'll run into things you never saw on film and be like ohhh wow this is interesting!!!! Instead of the other way. WHAT THE FRACKKKK!!!! Why did they take this out of the movie!!!!???

But in my opinion, this was way better than Harry Potter. Or Twilight. Or the Cirque du Freak. Or Percy Jackson. I don't know any other book series that were made into films.

Honestly I think it's the best movie I've seen all year. Maybe in a long long time. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and was really into the characters/storyline. Most movies dont' do that. It's just the CGI/Action that keeps me attached in most cases.

It was phenomenal, the only bad point being the congregation of 12 year olds it attracted who giggled every time a boy was on screen.

Really impressed with Josh's acting to be honest, didn't think he was right for the role but he pulled it off perfectly.

Oh and Katniss faked their kissing scene for the camera? But are they still actually in love? I haven't read the book so I didn't know about this.
