The fact that her competition is a soundtrack from a TV show is so strange

So now that it's Madonna selling poorly, suddenly the "declining industry" is to blame?
You can't base WW numbers on the numbers from the US because no other country has a music industry as big as the US (minus Japan). Looking at iTunes, the album is underperforming around the world:

To put this into perspective, the only time the album made it to #1 on iTunes WW was when it was put up for pre-order (it only stayed #1 for three days). Since its release, it has yet to top that chart again and is currently declining:
