It started off as better design, then who looks more threatening, then the good sis AMIT said Dragonite is actually more threatening because of Multiscale, then I replied Salamence slays w/ Scarf so it doesn't matter.
So following that pattern, you could tell the topic was on the track to "who's the better sweeper?"

But if you must know, I prefer the Scarf set. Mence can take down steel-types with Fire Blast, they have to switch out first, I know, but he's not completely hopeless Rapid Spin can be moderately difficult to pull off, since it can be very predictable. All you really have to do is switch to Jellicent or Cofagrigus or even Gengar if you choose to.
Point is, Dragonite won't truly shine until Stealth Rock is completely out of the game. And if you're playing against a smart opponent, that can be hard to do.
|
Well, because unlike Salamence, Dragonite can do more than just sweeping, the versatility.
And you're acting like taking the opponent's Steel-Type is a commom thing to do at the start of the match.
If they notice you're carrying a Scarf Salamence (and even if they don't), they're not gonna just let the Steel Tank die. So if they're smart that will be hard to pull off as well.
And no one uses Cofagrigus, and Gengar can be pretty manageable since it's not a spinblocker to the core, a Pursuit user usually does the trick, or Starmie. I think Scizor is pretty common, no?
And that's only completely true regarding the DD set, he has like 6+ other viable sets to choose from.

And does anyone have any suggestions for my Psychic Mono? It's made for Doubles.
Claydol: Earthquake, Reflect, Light Screen, Ice Beam and Light Clay.
Reuniclus: Trick Room, Psychic, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast and Life Orb.
Medicham: Hi Jump Kick, Zen Headbutt, ThunderPunch, Bullet Punch and Life Orb.
Gallade: Swords Dance, Drain Punch, Shadow Sneak, Zen Headbutt and Life Orb.
Musharna: Trick Room, Psychic, Signal Beam, Moonlight and Life Orb.
Beheeyem: Trick Room, Psychic, Recover, Thunderbolt and Life Orb.
|
I don't play doubles so I can't/am too lazy to judge
But use Fake Out on Med instead of TPunch and Beheeyem is overall a pretty terrible pokemon so it can be replaced
One of Medicham/Gallade can be replaced since they're both psychic/fighting but that option is up to you anyway

I can see you like Life Orb.
But tbh Beheeyem is trash so change that with something like Espeon/Xatu or Sigilyph with Stored Power + Cosmic Power + Magic Guard. Slaying.

*sigh*
Listen, this is my last message towards this topic since I'm about to grow a brain tumor.
Dragonite has several effective sets, and he has many effective sweeping sets. But, imo, Salamence's sweeping set (both) >>>>> Dragonite. But, that's just the sweeping area, Dragonite is very versatile and can do much more.
Oh, and I've seen many people use Cofargrigus from my experience, and Gengar is not a defensive spinblocker, but he can get the job done. And not once have I claimed this:

so I've no idea how to reply to that.

Sigilyph doesn't have MBounce. It really should though
I also once tried a Clefable when i was on PO with cosmic power, softboiled, stored power and charge beam. it actually got quite a few sweeps unless something like Medicham or Krookodile came along

Yeah lol, I corrected that, I meant Magic Guard, which slays as well. It can be pretty brutal if you don't stop it right away.

Lol, sorry about that part. I meant like ''it's not a very easy thing to do'' but it was kinda confusing, I agree.
I think both have pros and cons. Dragonite is arguably better at setting up, but Salamence takes the cake when it comes to actual sweeping because of his ability. I haven't seen many Cofagrigus in OU, but have seen stuff like Eviolite Dusclops so it's pretty much the same thing, I guess. This is getting a bit stale IA, let's just drop it.

I haven't played Pokemon since Ruby came out.
But I played Emerald again last month. Gave up when I couldn't find a Feebas.
