Yeah she was instantly massive. There was something magical about her. Everyone loved her.
Yep, I was only a child but I remember suddenly overnight she was EVERYWHERE and it was like she had always existed. Britney was just this presence, the new standard and the new embodiment of pop music.
Even in 2004 after getting married in Vegas for 55 hours (iconic!) and the media/GP being against her, she managed to win everyone over with Toxic and Everytime double-punch.
Hold It Against Me debuted at #1 with 420k first week sales The little monsters are shameless in their failed attempts to rewrite such recent history.
nothing but LIES!
It broke sales records and radio spin records despite not having a radio deal on the very first week. The starpower. Too bad she went fishing instead of promoting and released the video 5 weeks after dropping the song and leaving it to rot, dumb ****

so this kind've proves that even though brittany had a hannah montana-ish presence (CDs in cereal boxes, her face on back to school supplies, etc.) she wasn't really doing much with music
I think HIAM debuted so high because everyone was craving the old Brittany. Little did they know she became even worse... Oh well, at least the music was good then.
"You used to call me on my..." and "I only call you when it's half past five"
"Ever since I left the city you
Got a reputation for yourself now
Everybody knows and I feel left out"

Actually, Femme Fatale is a lot better than most of her work. Hold It Against Me is an amazing track.
