Actually I am not here for "Runaway"...it is one of my least favourite Avril songs...that "WAAAAY YEAAAAH" is so annoying... The verses **** though. And I still like the song. Lmao Avril doesn't have any really bad song.

I am here for serious (=not crazy) mid-tempo radio friendly song with rock vibe........something similar to "Don't Tell Me" but with deeper message. I will be satisfied with anything though. (As long as it isn't REALLY bad)

I personally love Runaway, it's a very fun track. It's not meant to be deep or anything. There are worse songs on TBDT imo.

I think she needs a smash hit that conquers radio like she did 10 years ago with Complicated. It's harder nowadays, since she's not breaking into the mainstream. I dunno, but WTH didn't convince me, because once the album came out it was clear that it stood out - and not in a good way (although the song is catchy and I like it as a single).

Most of the times making a comeback is harder than actually making a debut.

Yeah anything (besides ICDB) would have been a better single than TBDT...back in 2007 the ballads were still popular so the 4th single should have been "Innocence" ...mainly because of the great message, great melody/vibe & it was also fan favourite song.

Yeah...Avril is so underrated...I can't believe it. She writes...her studio AND live vocals are great...her discography is amazing...she also started producing...etc.
I think it is the stupid teen crazy chick image that is not appreciated. She needs to colour her hair with one color & act more mature. I like that she feels so young and energetic though.

in TBDT with GF
maybe if WYWH is the lead single, GL era is not that forgotten or associated as TBDT 2.0

with her next single i hope she just surprise everyone with sounds that will conquer radio but wont disappoint her fans

Innocence is one of those hidden gems that never made it to single. Such a shame, there were terrific ballads on that album, with Innocence being my 2nd fav (my first will always be WYG).

And your second paragraph is so true. I have that frustration with Demi as well ('cos she can sing amazingly well), although on a different scale (e.g. bad label, doesn't write her own songs for the most part...). I'm just glad that Avril enjoyed her glory days and that she still looks and sounds as flawless as 10 years ago when she made her debut.

Actually when WTH came out I was more than sure it was going to become a BIG hit. The song is SO radio friendly/catchy. That's why I was more than surprised that it flopped on the radio...I ask why...and the answer is also important for the next era.....Were the radios which rejected the song??(if yes - why?)...or was it RCA's fault who refused to promote WTH on the radio?

Of course, WTH was forced but needed - without it RCA would not release the album...
And the sad thing is that WTH didn't sell any copy of GL cos it didn't represent it. RCA wanted the first single to smash so hard so they delayed the album - and in the end the delays were the main reason why the single and the album underperformed.

Oh yes, I also think lack of good and timely promo (they left it WAY too late) + misrepresentation of the lead single when it comes to the album = flop debut.

I wouldn't call GL a TBDT 2.0 (at least track-wise) because the songs are so hybrid on that album. You have a little bit of everything from her past three albums. Even so, people called it her weakest effort. I personally loved the album, it's absolutely amazing, but then again I am biased so....

Honestly, I would have made Smile the lead single - it's catchy, vibrant, and doesn't represent the album as bad as WTH. And WYWH the second single to tone down the 'crazy' vibe and show she's serious. Just like she did with Complicated & Sk8er Boi and then the follow-up I'm With You, conquering a more mature audience.

It IS possible and it's happening. They don't care too much about all their few talented artists (GYHAB video didn't even come out yet, single was released in January....and no word on Miley's new music).

I'm just glad Avril ditched that flop label. I hope Demi and Miley get some sense and leave that label soon instead of playing music wars with the likes of HWR's poster child Selena Gomez.
