For real though, netizens used to despise him in the earlier years of SHINee. He kept getting called a gorilla (especially during Lucifer) and people kept saying he couldn't sing, that he was overly cocky, unintelligent, etc. It's wound down cause SM stopped forcing them to do those personas they gave them at debut but Jonghyun really was not a well-liked idol up until a few years ago.
And just in general, people say horrible things about idols all the time whether we see it or not. We sometimes forget that we are a tiny minority in this thread, and that the views/discussions of k-pop in Korea are drastically different. Plus it's not like idols are exactly free to express themselves. He's probably bothered by the ignorance + xenophobia. #king
