Oh geez I know it's just a re-release of one of the greatest album of all time but still only 120 K? Dang that's not King of Pop material he should have at least sold 300 K MJ needs to win his fans back so they will stop having this negative image of him

At one point I was expecting a million the first week. Then obiviously I downgraded to 400K. Way below my expectations.

You guys are way off. There is such little promo going on for this re-release. Of course Michael isn't going to sell 400k his first week. I'll be surprised if he breaks 100k. He fell from grace and too much time has passed to for a gimmick like this to work.

I don't see how anyone expects for the re-release to be that big. Michael has had usually moderate 1st weeks anyway.

I know. For any other album I would say that, but this is "Thriller", the best selling album off all time. So I don't just say things. For me 100K is such a huge disappointment for me.

That's why. It's been out for 25 years. Most households own at least one copy. Even if some kids have never bought it, chances are that their parents have a copy on the shelf. There really is no need to purchase it. It's not even like the remixes are amazing. People are going to either purchase the new tracks separately or download them illegally. If it was a completely new album with a new single and Michael was actually making appearances to promote the album, then it would be a disappointment, but obviously that's not the case.

Sorry, but Michael is completely irrelevant these days. If he'd re-released Thriller at the 10 year anniversary it would've been succesful because he was still popular then. If he released this at the 20 year anniversary, he could have cashed in on the momentum picked up by Invincible. But he hasn't done anything in the last 6 years and hasn't promoted this one bit so therefore, 100k seems more than generous. I honestly think most people have no clue that it's even being re-released.

It doesn't matter if its Thriller or if its Michael. It's NOT brand new music, he's NOT promoting this as a new record, so therefore there is no need for it to be bought. The new remixes will obviously just be bought through iTunes and randomly played on radio stations.
