Les ATRLers - Season 02 ∙ Episode 11: Comments
Episode 11 - Elimination Ceremony: Judges Comments
First of all you are going to get the comments that each judge made for your entries.
After that you are going to get the results. Good luck.

A con I can see is the practicality being abused by users ending up unintentionally spamming twenty 720x983 videos in one post as a result of being able to simply drop a link in the box, thus uglyfying the site crashing people's dial up connection. Being required to type out the code or click a button to embed media forces one to double think what they're doing. I say keep the function we have now, but update it to work with YouTube's new links and with shortened urls.
As for the Auto Save function: Here for it completely. I think Athens had introduced something of that concept already in the upgrade (?), but yeah, we'd really need it. Moderators can see our past edits, but we can't we see our own? Absurd!

It's honestly not that hard to not achieve a white box. However, as I kept reading your entry I started seeing the light. This could really help and be useful! Things would be easier to just post a video url or a twitter comment url or a Instagram post url and have the program do it itself. I really like this. Let me talk with Athens about getting this in with the update!

The first thing that comes to mind is seeing this in action when it comes to, as you also pointed out, bait threads a la Hive/Navy for example. For me, I don't see how it would work the way you reasoned. Wouldn't those threads not be repetitive if we all thought it was worth down voting? In the heat of the moment, Hive and Rihanna haters would vote one way and Navy/Beyoncé haters another. I suppose it'd be a nice feat for stans to note in discussion. "The thread's top position says otherwise!"
In the long run, would that also mean once popular/quality threads would eventually be down voted or buried under the many newer threads—with no way to bring attention aside from the top most recent/updated thread bar? I'm torn.
Important note: I don't and have never posted on sites like reddit yet, so perhaps I'm just not accustomed to that system already to better grasp how this could be a overall enrichment.

It still is a popularity system. You speak about how it will help the moderators with threads that the users don't want, well the users find humor in weird things. If something is useless/flamebait/humor trolling, then most people are going to up it to keep it going. Thus making it a nightmare to the tenth degree for moderators. Plus I could see this heavily being used for all the thirsty gays (I say this with love) and the Half naked men threads. Other aspects come in to play that this simply will not work from a moderators perspective.

Not only will the "popular" members be all the time at the top, but I could also see people cheating by asking people to vote for them.

Don't you worry. For the most part, I haven't let Cupid's exposé persuade my score and ranking, but, he does have a point about overlooking past entries. I mean, there's only one other season of this tournament and he was the winner of not only that same challenge, but the entire game. Now on to your feature:
I love chats. I've blossomed relationships with members here from it so I know, an ease of communication definitely helps, even on a standard discussion forum. I can only hope that an implemented one could also deter the competition of post*****s. However, I can't see this happening if the admins and mods haven't even made certain threads inaccessible to guests or gave more lenient rules to blogs, so it just sounds like more work for staff. As an irc, I already know ya'll will abuse it with your ****ery. It's kind of hard to have one actually integrated with ATRL without being uncensored. Being able to be free from rules, yet still with the community is kind of the charm of chats.
HOWEVER, there's that ATRL Chat in Blogs...that seems to be going well apparently. I've only checked the actual tinychat there once, but the blog seems to have established some well regulated rules. There's hope indeed!

It honestly looks like a mess. It's like a merge of tiny chat and the once upon a time section of atrl where we had groups. I can already imagine the mess of help requests coming in with things like "so and so is being racist" "so and so called me trash" "so and so called a retirement home for Madonna" "so and so told me to go slit my wrists cause I'm monster/Lovato hybrid stan" "so and so posted a picture of a horse and said it's Leona's new album cover" and the list goes on and on of the stupid stuff that would probably go on. It just seems like a total mess, especially from a moderating aspect.

I'm more inclined to love this idea for two reasons: I was almost awol from atrl these prior weeks and now feel the need to catch up. Also, I'm an aspiring magazine editor.
Anyway, I literally was just telling someone that I need someone to fill me in on all the highlights that I missed, atrl and pop culture wise here, so I'm completely here for the idea—I just don't know about the tentative system. However the execution though, it should happen.
I think it should start off small with say, as a stickied thread which simply lists and links to all the most hottest attractions that occurred during the week. Maybe a separate thread for each section. Just to test the waters, and if after a few months, it still maintains enough attraction, it could flourish into more and become one global sticky thread or function. Now that I think about it, the lounge vote thread was a blessing because it gauged reactions to this which gives me further ideas on how to tweak it. I'm sorry, I'm getting too excited that I might steal this and initiate it myself one day.

I can't remember the specifics but from what it looks like he did it weekly, but then compiled everything to do it monthly. I really liked his because it did bring atrl for something fun and a nice recap. Now while I say JT did it first, yours is still quite different. You are providing more categories and sections to make it more interesting. I actually say you should get started on this. My suggestion though is to make it monthly. All those categories weekly is a lot. Maybe get opinions each week for the Section and then compile them for month for people to choose. Keep it simple, it may not have to necessarily be a magazine.
