Why did Michael Buble gain so much this week? Is his new single "Lost" taken off or did he just make a string of appearances and/or win a Grammy?

MJ News
JACKO STEPS OUT: Early reports show Sony Legacy's 25th anniversary re-release of Michael Jackson's deluxe Thriller package is overperforming, with a first-week sales prognosis that could put it in the 80-90k range, which would seemingly be enough for a Top 5 bow. Props to John Ingrassia and his Commercial Music Group for a job well done. (2/12p)

OMFG for Amy Winehouse:

WINEHOUSE BUSTING OUT: Amy Winehouse's incendiary performance and five Grammy awards are combining to explode her Universal Republic album Back to Black, according to one-day retail reports, giving it a legitimate shot at #1 next week. She's already on target to do as much as eight times her total of 26k this week, which would put the album over 200k, a testament to the power of a compelling appearance on the nationally televised show. Don't get me wrong, but I think people kind of felt sorry for Amy at the Grammys since she has had some trouble recently.

That's actually fake. I just copied and paste. Here's the real one:
Quote:
JACKING THE CHARTS: Brushfire/Universal Republic’s Jack Johnson will get another week on top of the HITS Building Album Sales chart next week, as Sleep Through the Static appears on target to sell more than 135k, based on one-day sales reports from retailers now surfing in Kansas. Jackson’s 25th anniversary Thriller package and Universal Republic’s Amy Winehouse look like they will battle it out for the runner-up slot, while J Grammy winner Alicia Keys’ As I Am continues strong with another 100k, give or take. That would give Monte Lipman’s label two of the Top 5. Other Grammy titles experiencing sales boosts include Album of the Year winner Herbie Hancock’s Joni Mitchell tribute on Verve, up to 35k from 5k last week, and RCA/RMG’s Rock winners Foo Fighters up to 30k from 13k. The market was up 11% vs. last week, down 14% vs. same week last year and now already down 13% year-to-date. (2/13p)
WINEHOUSE BUSTING OUT: Amy Winehouse's incendiary performance and five Grammy awards are combining to explode her Universal Republic album Back to Black, according to one-day retail reports, making her a lock for the Top 5 next week. She's already on target to do as much as 110k and possibly even higher, if early sales trends hold up. That's testament to the power of a compelling appearance on the nationally televised show. We'll keep you posted as more numbers come in for our crack(ed) retail staff to crunch. (2/13p)
THEY GLOVE HIM, THEY REALLY GLOVE HIM: Michael Jackson's 25th anniversary Thriller reissue on Sony Legacy is selling even better than expected, with a projected first-week total of 120k that should easily place it in next week's Top 5. The new package includes the original nine songs, six tracks remixed with the likes of will.i.am, Akon, Fergie and Kanye West, a ballad, "For All Time," left off the original, and a DVD featuring three videos and a clip of the King of Pop moon-walking for the first time on the Motown 25th anniversary show. Props to John Ingrassia and his Commercial Music Group for a job well done. (2/13p)

glad it's bringing in good cd sales!
That is always good news in my book.

Well it is due to large part of the people on the album including Will.I.Am, Kanye and Akon/T-Pain (whichever of the 2 is on there)

Actually, Thriller is historically one of the biggest albums of all time. It's not necessarly due to the people who are included in the album. (If that were the case K Fed's "rap album" would've sold a few copies because Britney Spears is featured in one of his songs...)
I'm a little suprised that re-release number isn't bigger and taking the top spot... But way to go for Elevator and Coffee Shop music reaching #1!
