This week on Adam’s Top Ten, competition has been less rough but still considerably close. Taylor’s Swift’s Lost in Love zooms into the top spot thanks to loads of promo, performances, and a newly-released version featuring popstar Rihanna dubbed the “Love in Love (Rihmix)”. Speaking of Rihanna, this week her single Hypnotized debuts at #4, but more on that later.
Ke$ha’s second single Wild flies to the runner-up position thanks to much promo in the thread, hype and of course our iconic track-by-track review of her newly-released album, Dreamer.
Rebounding at #3 is Katy Perry with Girl’s Night Out, the first single from her upcoming album Take On The Night. Katy, along with Taylor Swift, performed on the Oscars last Saturday, which is showing in their charting.
After much anticipation, Rihanna’s first single Hypnotized from her TBA album was released to retailers and radio this week. The song garnered much positive feedback and debuts at #4 this week.
Katy Perry’s second single from Take On The Night, Center of Attention, debuts at #5. Ms. Perry also performed this single at the Oscars, with her performance following Taylor Swift, Celine Dion and Slendy.
Many artists face negative backlash this week. Most notable are Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga. Taylor Swift faced some problems with her pop fans after her Playboy cover story, but it was the country fans who really had a problem with it. “She shouldn’t be exposing her body like that!” one fan says. “Who does she think she is, Katy Perry? Nicki Minaj? A true country artist would never have to sell her body like that.” Lady Gaga also was boycotting after being on trial for the murder of producer ReDone for the majority of the week. The trial has not been finished yet (?) but reports say that ReDone has been found and that he is indeed alive.
RECORD BREAKERS:
• Beyonce breaks another record, although not a desirable one to break. She has the biggest fall from #1 ever on Adam’s Top Ten.
• This week’s top 5 has the most debuts ever (4).
