If I had to choose one Madonna song that's withstood the test of time, it's Into the Groove. I hear it on the radio at least once a week.

"Drowned World (Substitute for Love)" is the perfect introduction to Ray of Light - it talks about how Madonna's perspective on life had changed in the past few years.

It was released as the third single off this album in Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia and South Africa, achieving moderate success - it peaked at #10 in the UK and topped the Spanish chart (good Lord, Spain again?)

She performed it live twice: in The Drowned World Tour (opening act) and in The Confessions Tour.

The video shows Madonna's relation with the media circus and how she often tries to run away from all of it just to get home and see her daughter.

Really good song. 9 from me.

"Into the Groove" was written by Madonna when she was watching some Latin boy across her balcony. If only everyone was able to write pop masterpieces out of stalking hot guys, the world would maybe be a better place, I guess.

It was included on the film Desperately Seeking Susan, and later on Like a Virgin. "Into the Groove" was released as a single and it turned out to be a smash, topping many countries' charts, including the UK's. However, it was not released in the US so it would not affect "Angel"'s performance there.

Madonna performed it in five of her tours: The Virgin Tour, The Who's That Girl Tour, The Blond Ambition Tour, The Re-Invention Tour and The Sticky & Sweet Tour.

The video basically just features scenes from Desperately Seeking Susan.

Funny how this song sums up what a good part of the 80s Madonna music represented, in general. 9 from me.
