Michael Jackson fans may all take a deep breath and breathe a collective sigh of relief. His record shared with Katy Perry for the most #1 hit songs on the Billboard Hot 100 from one album is likely to stand at five for some time to come. Bad and Teenage Dream will remain linked together in the record book. Katy Perry came very close to a sixth #1 last week when her single "The One That Got Away" peaked at #3, but now, as it fades to #6 it looks like the record will stand.
The failure of "The One That Got Away" to reach the top of the chart is not for lack of trying. Capitol Records discounted the single to 69 cents and released a new remix of the song featuring B.o.B. as well. The best guess is that the music buying pubic finally were just saturated with so much Katy Perry. Those who complained about attempts at manipulating the charts may now rest. The record book hasn't been entirely rewritten. Finally, here is the hope that we can all go back to enjoying what a sad and charming song "The One That Got Away" truly is.

I really didn't expect this to go #1. It definitely had a shot though and there's no doubt in my mind that if she did a little more promo and a performance (Xfactor U.S., People's Choice Awards, etc) it probably would've made it to #1. For a 6th single with hardly any promo it's done extremely well and had a great run
Time to move on from the epic TD era, regroup, and get some new music. This thread is going to explode the moment we hear she's back in the studio and I can't wait
