I mean he released the french version of "Love Is A State Of Grace", you can't get more stannish than that.
What he said about her Circus Tour is that she was always dancing, running, dealing with the set and the props, doing stunt & magic trick. Well, he prefers a good playback than a breathless & poor vocal performance that could take away from the visual spectacle.
