This is exactly what will happen with Adele. She probably won't have many more hit singles after the next album (maybe a few here and there) but she'll continue to sell shitloads of albums as long as she releases them.
People can call her Alanis and Norah but she'll likely end up more as Sade, though held on an even higher level like Aretha.
