The Grammys can be a mess with the genre thing. Ceremonials was a pop album for them but Lily Allen's album (can't remember the title, the one Smile comes from) was an alternative album

Just heard the HQ snippet of "Till It Happens To You". It's kinda sad how she has better vocals than most major pop girls (Taylor, Katy, Rih, etc.) yet she always sounds a mess in the studio nowadays since she insists on making try-hard sounds & screeching noises with her voice. Like, will she ever serve normal studio vocals again?

The most recent Grammy mess that I can think of was Stronger getting Best Pop Vocal Album over Some Nights even though Some Nights was nominated for AOTY and Stronger wasn't

That's Gaga's main problem. She has the voice, she just doesn't know how to use it and restrict it. Xtina teas. Taylor, Katy and Rih sound good in the studio because they know that less is more.
