It better because Yo-kai Watch 2 is coming too and it won GOTY in Japan, it's huge improvement over the original, which was already really good. Unlike Pokémon, Yo-kai Watch is always taking one step forward, and no steps back.

Pokemon has branched out since YW, tho. First Pokken and now Pokemon GO. Hopefully they continue the mainline handheld games but bring back a better, more interactive console take on the Stadium/Colisseum games.

I still haven't gotten Yokai Watch yet and I blame myself for it flopping in the U.S.

Yo-kai Watch didn't flop in the US. It's the most viewed show on Disney XD, it's coming to Netflix, and the game is still selling according to Level-5.

Robopon was another collecting game but was a little quicker than Pokemon. The second game in 2002 had 4x4 battles and the N64 game had live battles and a more open world. It's such a shame that it bombed because it was actually cute.
