I hope so. I really dont know why is she so serious all the time with all the hidden messages in her songs. Just make an album full of pure pop and some killer anthems.
But why do I have the feeling that her next album will have even more serious theme than ARTPOP( not that ARTPOP's theme is serious, I meant just more unrelatable) and things will get even worse

it's interesting to me that the people who love ARTPOP the most of all her albums are also huge TF stans. nothing bad, just an interesting observation, because I think ARTPOP is the closest she'll get to mindless fun pop for a while/ever
for me..
BTW > ARTPOP > TFM > TF

It really is that way. I always loved TF. I remember how I heard Just Dance on the radio for the first time and instantly fell in love with that chorus and positivity. I bought the album and had it on for months and months. Didn't care for anything else. Then, TFM came which I felt was a bit too early and a little bit creepy for me, tbh. I liked Bad Romance but the two tracks that stood out were Monster and SHICD and that was it.
Out of respect for MANY people here, I will not repeat those awful things I've said about BTW. Let's just say that I use three songs from that cd - GH, MTN and HML. The album seriously pulled me away from her and when I first heard Applause, I thought Thank God! I then went to the store, bought the album and never stopped listnening. I love ARTPOP.

It's like the more people drag her, the more she does x100 the things she's dragged for.
Retweeting that Van Gogh's tweet was ridiculous and stupid, yet she did it.
The more people say "she's too serious", the more she become serious.
It's always been like that. Even when she posts a pic where she looks amazing and the likes on fb go crazy, the next day she has to post a pic where she looks awful.

I kind of like that she wants to give deeper meanings than the average pop star; there are layers to even the greatest dance hits like Just Dance, Poker Face, Monster, for example. There's no pretension despite the double meaning in the songs. I just wonder if she can go back to that herself.. and yet, I feel that the GP and critics expect something more from her. She's stuck in a hard place. Maybe releasing Artpop can help release those unrealistic expectations she surely must have felt before.

If she gave an album with just bops and mindless tunes she'd be called basic, if she hides deeper meanings into her songs and shows emotion she's trying too hard. She never wins really. It's just the opinions of a bunch of people that collide when you express them with each other. What matters most is what you want from her as an artist, if you don't like it then I guess you just stop purchasing her albums? I just hope she continues to make music that I like and hopefully other people like it too.

So was G.U.Y. with its video really just a gift for us Monsters to make the waiting for the current single's video better?

I kind of have the same story about being a Gaga fan, just with the difference that I was obsessed with the dark image of TFM and that I started to love BTW in 2014. Plus I don't think that ARTPOP is my favourite Gaga album.

ARTPOP is exactly what we asked for. It is fun and clearly has little thought in it. The album is full of bops! The problem with making a fun album full of bops is that it isn't really that good. TF was the perfect debut album for someone trying to make it. It was fun, and knew exactly what it was. Gaga herself was more interesting at the time and her ideas connected well with the music. People loved serious her too. TFM + BTW did well. She started to annoy people when mystique became obnoxious.
I don't want an album full of "bops." She doesn't need to be serious, but she should write an album about real experiences through the lenses of a person - just as she did with TFM and BTW. I don't want an album about the dance floor or partying, but I don't want one with art messages about pop culture. I want to see a wide range of sincere emotions from Gaga on one, fluent album.

That is the step many have already taken, it seems. Her music and ideas aren't connecting well with people.
But I think she's going to be in a better place next go round! So much has happened and I hope it has inspired her to be the musician she really is.

I think what people want from Gaga now is a personal record. Something that brings her back down to earth so they can relate to the woman 'behind the aura'. There's trouble connecting because she's so otherworldly - which started off as a turn on, but now isn't.
It'll give her music depth without going conceptual, which is where she's falling down. She's had her heart broken, she's fallen in love, she's been betrayed by friends and colleagues, she's struggled with insecurities, drugs, faith and now she's experienced a hefty dose of humility through media backlash. Let that inform the music.
The trick will be finding the balance between going all Dope/Princess Die on us, yet still delivering radio candy. My feeling is she should be going rock. That way she can have the intimate, minimal ballads, the soaring power pop ballads, the angry anthems and catchy midtempos. I can see her bridging a 70s funk with pop/rock. Work with Rick Rubin, Paul Epworth, Florence & The Machine etc.

Exactly. I believe Gaga is concerned with sticking out from the crowd by being random and doing controversial things, but none of it seems personal. I don't want Gaga to dumb herself down ala ARTPOP to service any radio trend. I really don't care if she never sees a #1 again. I do want a good album, and I want it to be human. Alien Gaga is no longer amusing.
Her vomit act at Swine was probably the only moment I felt the ARTPOP era had some bounce in its step. It was controversial, but it was performance art. I don't mind performance art if it relates to the subject...Maybe we are all fooled and ARTPOP is the performance art of era of the decaying blonde!

I would've loved for ARTPOP to be half about Gaga's artistry and personal thoughts written through 'POP' lyrics (the 'ART' side), and the latter half to be about Gaga's less personal, more relatable experiences as written through 'ART' lyrics (the 'POP' side). They would meet in the middle through "ARTPOP", a song that perfectly mixes both.
