ok so i have not had a chance to like..... write into existence how i feel about this album yet so here are the most important things for me
- the fact that she worked w/ james blake just solidifies why i love the bitch so much. she literally makes my worlds collide. he was my #1 wanted collab w/ her ever since she worked w/ Frank Ocean on 4. i mean granted Forward isn't some show stopper of a song or anything but... just to know she appreciates the things i like and vice versa is so amazing. then to have jack white / kendrick there too is so amazing. i absolutely loath the weeknd and 6 inch happens to be my least favorite track, but just like Love Me Harder, however much he sucks could not ruin the song for me.
- 1. all night 2. love drought 3. hold up 4. sorry 5. freedom. every song is a highlight but that is the order. don't @ me, and let me just say that anyone who has a sour opinion about Love Drought is never to be trusted......
it is LITERALLY NO ANGEL 2.0. the fact that Diplo had a hand at 2 of my faves is also another huge personal thing for me
- the visual album is just unreal. it saddens me that i know not to expect her to win AOTY for Lemonade, and particularly because they Grammy committee don't take into consideration whatsoever the visual aspect of the album, or the narrative that it provided to these songs, how it flowed, the story that it told, and what it represents for people. i cried like twice watching it. i love that it's a love letter to black women, and that there's something i'll never understand about it... for this woman to be able to make art that at it's heart is designed towards and inspired by the harmonious struggles of women of african descent is..... it really can never be understated
- i like Self Titled more as a collection of sonically comparable songs / standalone album, but the visual aspect tied into the music of Lemonade is unparalleled.... if that makes sense. i feel like it's apples and oranges honestly, lemons rather and i'm really only interested in lemons rn
was never prepared for this. love that she was able to pull it off. love that it's still doing relatively well...... just so so so so so impressed / blessed to stan for bey
