Released two years after 2011's deplorable Femme Fatale, and a decade after Spears was in any way culturally relevant, Britney Jean reeks of the same type of desperation that you might see from a recently divorced 49-year-old woman hitting on a 21-year-old man.

Lead single Work Bitch! is a prostitution anthem (of which four of the six writers credited are men) in which Spears details if a faux-English accent that if "You want a hot body? You want a Bugatti? You want a Maserati? You better work bitch!'' over a horrendously over-aggressive bass line - the exact type of electrotrash that we've come to expect from anything the herpes of the contemporary music industry, will.i.am, is involved in.

The rest of record follows suit - insipid lyricism layered over fraught Auto-Tune and overproduced hook-less electro - and as a whole is as embarrassing as the time that my mother found my search history on LimeWire and discovered "britney spears naked mpeg'' (for the record this was Oops!
