It has amazing urban throwback songs, great uptempos, amazing AC ballads - it has classic Mariah and it has some new influences - and the songs are good throughout. I don't see how that album can be trashed. It would have smashed so hard 10 years ago.

Exactly. It has a quality reminiscent to her pre-Rainbow albums because you can tell the material really MEANS something to her. It is a carefully crafted work.
