Lady GaGa to headline festival... in CARLISLE

LADY GAGA will make her only live UK festival appearance this year - in Carlisle.
The singer will headline the main stage for Radio 1's Big Weekend in the Cumbrian city.

She said: "I'm so excited. I can't wait."

The two-day event, at Carlisle Airfield, starts on May 14 and will also feature FOO FIGHTERS, THE BLACK EYED PEAS, TINIE TEMPAH and PLAN B.

BBC bosses expecting more than 500,000 ticket applications. Radio 1 live events editor NEIL WYATT said: "This will be Lady GaGa's only UK festival performance this year. It's going to be a very special moment.

"We take huge artists to places they wouldn't normally go. It's very exciting for Carlisle."

The city's tourism chief MARIE WHITEHEAD said: "This is without doubt the single biggest event to happen in Carlisle this side of the Millennium."

In the specified context, yes, just like any number of albums are, have been, and in the future will be "like Thriller" in any number of contexts (e.g., any album that has seven singles is "like Thriller" in that respect).

The specified context being that BTW might, like Thriller, be an album that ***** all over its lead single.

But as per my original post, that's getting a bit ahead of ourselves, wouldn't you say? A lot of things "might" happen...making comparisons to what happened with the best-selling album of all time is a bit premature. Because for all we know the song BTW was the first single b/c it's actually the best song the album has to offer.

Well we're all just speculating at this point, and it doesn't seem baseless considering what we've heard of the material and what she's said regarding BTW being distinct from the rest of the album.

Unless you honestly do think BTW will be the cream of the album's crop.

That's the thing - I don't know. I've only heard a couple of remixed snippets at fashion shows. So I can't "honestly think" anything. What I do know is that the best track is often chosen as the lead single.

We do know that's not a hard and fast rule, though, as per many examples, but I guess if you think BTW is as good as it's gonna get then that's your prediction.

They show the potential of being better than BTW, but I can't make a decision or jump to premature conclusions based on remixed snippets

Hooker sounds like it could be a great song. "Could" being the operative word.

I've never bashed BTW. I always said I liked it - in fact while everyone was bashing it, I was one of the very few who liked it when it was released.

I'm hazarding a guess that they will be better, and I don't feel premature at all in saying that... cuz I have ears.
