It's true. I went to the Zedd True Colors event, and Zedd and I talked about how he wanted Katy on Straight Into the Fire, but he couldn't get her on the song.

I actually asked him about how he finds the right vocalist for a song, and he told me it's just a feeling. Then, he went into detail about how he asks people to be a part of a song, and a lot of the time people say no or "F*** off." When I registered shock with the "F*** off" part, he clarified that it wasn't necessarily to that extent, but he has got that response before. Then, he talked about Straight Into the Fire, and how he originally wanted Katy Perry or maybe a Katy Perry-esque voice. Then, he found Julia Michaels, who is also on the song Daisy on True Colors

Yes this is probably true but he didn't seek out someone who sounded like Katy after she rejected him. Julia writes and demos most of her songs like Sia/Bonnie would do. And since Katy didn't take it he kept Julia's vocals on the song.
