It was de facto canceled. It didn't receive any additional episode orders, so it finished its 13 episode order. Only 10 episodes actually aired. But it's not coming back.

Guys, I was watching Season 2 randomly a couple of days ago and literally shat myself it was so funny. Why ABC chose to make the decisions they made regarding the series is still baffling.

The one thing I will say ABC was justified to a degree, Happy Endings managed a small syndication deal on VH1. The ratings were baaaaaaaaad when they marathoned it. Had it gotten another season it would have been to up its syndication levels and I don't think it would have done any better in syndication with additional episodes.
I JUST WANT A REAL THIRD SEASON DVD ABC IS IT THAT HARD?!
