"Lady Madonna" was first released as a single in 1968. Its b-side was the George-led "The Inner Light", the instrumental of which was recorded in Mumbai.
Apparently, John was not proud of the lyrics to this song, and went on to credit most of them to Paul. (Source for the naysayers.)
What the GP had to say:
potent was clearly a fan, saying: "It's such a fun song. I love the instrumental."
You know what? **** you all. This is amazing. That guitar ALONE >>> careers. Lucas32, superben, and Superiore all better sleep with one eye open from now on.
The title is a play on words using the idea of day trips to talk about what Lennon called "weekend hippies". The song's authorship was disputed by John and Paul, with John claiming it was entirely his creation, and Paul claiming it was a collaborative effort between the two expanding on an idea proposed by John.
Superpower is experiencing déjà vu, saying: "This was my first time listening to this song and it immediately felt familiar because it sounds like Gotye's "Easy Way Out". Never knew he was inspired by this song." Well, you gave it a 10, so I guess that's a good thing? Buyonce1814 says, "Love the guitar in this and that's why it's got a higher rating. Cute song overall but it's quite forgettable amongst the rest of the rate songs." False! "Intro for DAYS!" screeches lousaysthings, and Lucas32 proves how bad his taste can be sometimes, saying: "The best thing about this song is the fact that it is relatively short and therefore isn't completely terrible."
Taken from the album Help!, "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" is just John Lennon doing a Bob Dylan impression. It was also featured in the film Help!.
What the GP had to say:
superben catches the Dylanisms: "It's like he was trying to emulate Bob Dylan, to a horrid result."
