WHY: As funny as it may sound, when I was a child and we used to call each other by the female version of our names (as most boys in elementary school do, I hope), everyone was stumped as to what to call me. My name is William and the best everyone could come up with was Wilma, which I absolutely hated. I mean, how butch, right?
As I grew older and exposed to more names, I discovered Wilhelmina, which I thought was super chic. A few years later, I took a large interest in fashion and discovered that there was a major modeling agency named Wilhelmina Models. Right then and there, I joked that Wilhelmina would be my drag name.
On another occasion, I drunkenly slipped on my friends tutu and she began to call me that and I corrected her and said it's "Wilhemina Tutu", which is my full drag name to separate me from the rest.
And let's not forget the iconic character from Ugly Betty, Wilhelmina Slater. A true inspiration.
HOW: Wilhelmina to me is an unusual name and it's closeness to my name as well as it's fashion DNA truly represents my drag style. Lastly, if you don't like me or my style of drag, there will be "hel" to pay.
