23. Linkin Park “Leave Out All The Rest"
Album: Minutes To Midnight
Genre: Alternative
Producer: Rick Rubin, Mike Shinoda
US Billboard Hot 100: #94
What I’ve Done was big last year, but this song is by far the best single they have released from that album, it‘s sad to know this song went unnoticed.
Leave Out All The Rest has a great message that sounds more like a confession, the lyrics speak about someone who has made wrong decisions in the past but would like to remembered for the good things he has done when he dies. Chester’s vocal are solid, proving that Linkin Park can also deliver a perfect emotional ballad. The video is also one of the best of the year, the visuals are simply crazy and we see the guys being explorers in space. Linkin Park is one of my favorite rock bands and I absolutely love this song, one of the best of the year.
22. Chris Brown “With You"
Album: Exclusive
Genre: R&B, Pop
Producer: Stargate
US Billboard Hot 100: #2
Before I heard this, I found Chris Brown’s music to be very annoying, but he definitely won me over with this track and his latest album. Chris Brown's singing voice is not, by any means, the strongest in the business, but the arrangement gives the song a more romantic vibe and he uses it to his advantage, I would say it’s his best vocal performance yet. The video is a big mess and it could’ve been way better, the song did not ask for a freestyle routine. The chorus is catchy and very memorable, something tells that someone is gonna cover this song in the future.
With You helps prove that Chris Brown is not only an amazingly talented dancer, but that he can also deliver an amazing mid-tempo R&B song.
21. Lady GaGa f/ Colby O’Donis “Just Dance”
Album: The Fame
Genre: Dance-Pop
Producer: RedOne, Akon
US Billboard Hot 100: #3
I was hooked instantly when I heard this song for the first. The song tells the story of Gaga's night out at a club, completely out of her mind unable to think, let alone find anything, but the music is fantastic so all she wants to do is dance. The chorus is probably the catchiest of the year,
‘da da doo-doo-mmm just dance’ is the catchiest line of the year. Colby O’Donis adds a few rhymes and a male point of view, making the song more complete. Then the mind-blowing bridge kicks in as Gaga sings
"Half psychotic, sick, hypnotic, got my blue print, it’s symphonic” along to a futuristic beat. The video perfectly describes the song, it‘s a wild party.
Just Dance took a long time to get noticed, but it did and right now it’s tearing up the radios, so it’s all good. In other words, the song is simply brilliant. Lady GaGa
