I can't say that I'm TOO surprised to see this make the list, but Shania's biggest hit is one that I'm not particularly a fan of. I actually like every follow up single off of the Come On Over album more than "You're Still the One". Yeah, that's all I've got for this one. ![:-!](images/smilies/images/smilies/aol_foot-in-mouth.gif)

Perhaps the single most defining song of the 1960's, "California Dreamin'" IS the 1960's in one tightly wrapped up nutshell. The despair (thanks to the Cold War and Vietnam War, not to mention the many assassinations), the heartbreak, the pain, and even "Flower Power" are all represented here, not to mention the wonderful harmony of The Mamas and the Papas. Denny Doherty and John Phillips, particularly, shine as two of the finest male singers of the decade each putting forth one of their best performances.

I will always have a soft spot for this song. Arguably Clapton's most successful solo hit (even though it didn't reach #1 like "I Shot the Sheriff" did, only reaching #2, it won Record and Song of the Year Grammys), "Tears In Heaven" is one of the most beautiful and sorrow-filled songs to become as big of a hit as it became. This isn't Clapton's best vocal performance or best guitar performance, but it's certainly his most emotional song, and one of the most emotional songs released by anyone.

Fun fact: This is my personal favorite Mariah Carey song. Fun fact #2: This is the first female song to ever debut at #1 on the Hot 100. This song is just so summer to me, despite the fact that it peaked in the fall. This is primarily because of the beat, which samples another classic, Tom Tom Club's "Genius of Love", and the hook of that song is also sung by Mariah in the bridge part of the song. MARIAH INCEPTION!

The first song to receive multiple highest rankings is also the debut single from The Notorious B.I.G. It surprised me that "Juicy" wound up placing higher than "Hypnotize" and any other Biggie Smalls single, but I guess I shouldn't have been THAT surprised, given that the song has placed on numerous Best of lists since its release. The beat for this song is just unbelievable, sampled from R&B classic "Juicy Fruit" by Mtume, and the flow from Biggie Smalls was already on point on his debut single. Good stuff all around.
Coming up next time:
Songs 55-51. Here's what awaits:
- Found in this next set: One song from the 60's, two songs from the 80's, one song from the 90's...and a song from the
1930's.
- It shouldn't be too hard to guess the artist from the 1930's, but can you guess the song?
- The song from the 60's is the first of two from one of THE Divas.
- One artist from the 80's is hitting this set with their second of three songs on the top 100. This song is particularly known for its video.
- The other artist is impacting with their third and last appearance. It is also undoubtedly their most popular song.
Have fun guessing, and I'll see you guys next time, as we get one step closer to the top 50!
