Last night was a night of surprises and let downs!
Lets look deeper:
CBS:
CBS Won the night! NCIS opened up their new season with 17.72 million viewers! Following, the series premiere of The Mentalist debuted with15.55 million viewers. Seems like a good start. After The Mentalist, Without A Trace premiered with 11.38 million viewers.
ABC:
The series premiere of Opportunity Knocks opened with a disappointing 6.63 million viewers. Night two of Dancing with the Stars averaged 18.20 million viewers. Jeffrey Ross was eliminated last night... predictions on who will be eliminated tonight?
Fox:
House averaged 12.14 million viewers and won the night with the key demos. Fringe dipped a little from last week but still had a strong 9.65 million viewers
NBC:
The Biggest Loser stood up well against all of the tough competition with 7.18 million. Following TBL L&O SVU premiered its season premiere with 9.52 million viewers.
CW:
Disappointing numbers all around.... 90210 averaged 2.96 million viewers up against tough competition. Privileged sank to an all time low with 1.86 million viewers. The two shows may need to do some damage control as it seems Privileged does not fit well with 90210.
Tonight we have the premieres of :
CBS: The New Adventures of Old Christine, Gary Unmarried (New Series), Criminal Minds and CSI: NY; NBC: Knight Rider (New Series) and Lipstick Jungle
In addition:
ABC: Dancing With The Stars and a David Blaine special (possibly); NBC: Deal or No Deal; CW: America's Next Top Model; FOX: Bones, Til Death and Do Not Disturb
My predictions for the night.... Gary Unmarried will bomb, Knight Rider will be this season's Bionic Woman, Lipstick Jungle will sink lower and DND will be on its last breath

I'm really curious to know how Old Christine did. It's a very funny show and it's ratings always seem to be hit or miss.

Okay, so here are out CBS totals for the BIG premieres.
The Big Bang Theory - 9.36
How I Met Your Mother - 9.74
Two and a Half Men - 14.93
Worst Week - 11.04
CSI: Miami - 16.87
The New Adventures of Old Christine - 6.70
Gary Unmarried - 6.84
Monday night showed up great for CBS. They were the top rated of the night and The Big Bang Theory opened up the night's "big bang" ratings. 9.36 million is a pretty good start for the show that ended up with an average of 8.47 on its first season and ended up at #59 overall last year. The season picked up almost exactly where it left of. Not one of theb est episodes. Next came "How I Met Your Mother" with 9.74. Last year was the show's lowest rated season of 8.20 and ended up at #60 right under "The Big Bang Theory". This show is easily the least popular, which does not compromise it's ratings. However, IMO, it's my favorite of the line up. Next comes "Two and a Half Men", CBS's highest rated comedy show and the highest rated comedy show. It premiered with 14.93 and compromised it's last season's average of 13.6 at #16. The show's ratings have been slipping slightly, but this show is definitely not leaving us anytime soon. This is easily the night's "Friends". Next came the premiere of the new comedy show "Worst Week" which had ratings of 11.04, thanks to "Two and a Half Men". The show is unlike CBS's other comedy show. This show is NOT filmed in front of a studio audience. This could be the death of the show, but what it lacks in laughing, it makes up for by actually being a pretty good show. The show turned out to be pretty funny and begged to be a scene out of a box office romantic comedy hit. Finally, the show's highest rated show, CSI: Miami, premiered with 16.87. This over 2 million more than last season's average of 14.01 at #8. The series, IMO, is one of the worst shows on tv and I have lost my appeal for it since season 3. The night averaged out with 12.39.
CBS has began to also air comedies from prime time to Wednesday nights. Wednesday nights are the least watched tv night right behind Friday and before Saturday. CBS realized this and is trying to make this end. "The New Adventures of Old Christine", which is a hit or miss in ratings, premiered with 6.7, WAY down from its Monday timeslot with 10.4 at #38 last year! This definitely proved Wednesdays are not a most watched television night. Followed by it was "Gary Unmarried" with 6.84. The show was down nearly 5 million from its comedy processor, "Worst Week". It is clear that "Worst Week" or "Gary Unmarried" will be cancelled and "The New Adventures of Old Christine" will be easily transmitted back to its Monday timeslot by November sweeps. It is also possible they might move "Gary Unmarried" to "Worst Week"'s timeslot to compliment "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and "Gary Unmarried"'s rating before November sweeps.
Here's what I would do.
Monday Night:
8:00 - Two and a Half Men
8:30 - How I Met Your Mother
9:00 - The New Adventures of Old Christine
9:30 - The Big Bang Theory
10:00 - CSI: Miami
Wednesday Night:
8:00 - Worst Week
8:30 - Gary Unmarried
9:00 - The Ex-List
10:00 - CSI: NY

ROFL that could possibly be the worst scheduling for Mondays and Weds I've ever seen for CBS.
Two and a Half Men cannot be on @ 8. They have that show on at 9 so that people who know it is on and don't have anything to do before will watch the shows before. By having it on @ 8 people will turn in and slowly turn off their TVs. We can see the drop off last season and this season. Having the BBT at 9:30 would not help it at all. It is doing perfectly fine where it is . Any show after Two and a half Men will be high just because of people shortly leaving their TVs on or finishing that hour off.
Now onto your Wednesday schedule. That is possibly even crappier than your Monday scheduling!
Worst Week and Gary Unmarried cannot attract viewers on their own this early into the season! we've already seen how comedies perform on Wednesday and this would be a death sentence. Also the 4 shows you have there are VERY incompatible. Viewers from the comedies will not stay for the Ex List which will be DOA when it premiers on Friday! Criminal Minds @ 9 got 15 million viewers why move that?! Its pulling in enough viewers. CSI fans will tune in wherever the show is so that is fine where it is.
Do some more research lol
My prediction. Weds @ 8 will be replaced with a new drama
and Old Christine will be back @ 9:30 on mondays

I'm too lazy to do my write ups for the past few days where I haven't updated. If you want any of that data just leave me a q here and I'll answer it!
Now onto last night Sat 9/27/08!
CBS
8:00 CSI: Miami (R) 4.56 million
9:00 Criminal Minds (R) 6.27 million
10:00 Season-premiere of 48 Hours Mystery with 7.27 million viewers
ABC
Saturday Night Football averaged 5.52 million viewers
FOX
8:00, 8:30 Cops averaged 4.77 million
9:00 America’s Most Wanted 4.93 million
NBC
8:00 2 Hour (R) of Heroes 2.35 million
10:00 Law & Order: SVU (R) 4.76 million
What a boring night lol. If the networks could program good television for Saturdays I bet people will watch. But it seems that don't even want to try!
Tonight we have the premiers of
ABC: (2 hour) Extreme Makeover, Desperate Housewives, and Brothers and Sisters
CBS: 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race, Cold Case and The Unit
FOX: Animation Block! Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy and American Dad
We also have repeats on CW and Football on NBC
Next week CW rolls out its new Sunday schedule which will bomb due to no advertisement for it! CW don't you want people to watch your shows other than 90210 and GG?

That wasn't for this season. I was talking next season. WW and GU (id not cancelled by then) could have a strong fan base. I've never seen the Ex-List, and from the commercials it looked like comedy so that's why I put it there. But really it's a drama? WTF?!!!!! Anyways, my Monday schedule may be wrong. BBT would flop being moved there. I meant for TAAHM and TBBT to be switched. So Monday would look more like this:
8:00 - TBBT
8:30 - TNAOOC
9:00 - TAAHM
9:30 - HIMYM
10:00 - CSI:M
This is my revised monday schedule. (You can tell that I want HIMYM to be successful. )
Wednesdays, since now that I found out TEL is drama and not comedy, should be switched. TEX stay after GW on Fridays and CSI:NY stays on it's original schedule. Just put WW and GU (again if not canelled by then) after a drama at 9:00.
IMO, my way, if ratings and everything didn't matter, I would do this.
Monday:
8:00 - TBBT
8:30 - WW
9:00 - TNAOOC
9:30 - TAAHM
10:00 - HIMYM
10:30 - TD
As you can see, I wish 'Til Death was on CBS and not Fox, because I usually can't watch 'Til Death because something else more important is on and I love Til Death. And I don't like Gary Unmarried. At least not yet, so...
All the local channels primetimes should merge creating one huge superstation with the most watched shows. It would be amazing. But it would never happen.
