Come on now, that's kinda discrediting all the artist who achieved that. Beside the biggest hit of the year are rarely ever super generic
2011 : Rolling in the Deep (soul/blues)
2012 : Somebody That I Used to Know (indie/alternative)
2013 : Blurred Lines (R&B)
2014 : Happy (neo soul)
2015 : Uptown Funk (funk)
2016 : One Dance (dancehall)
None of them are run of the mill pop songs
