What we need is an explanation that makes sense of everything. But let's say that the bathtub baby is the killer. Now let's say we don't know who Chanel #5 OR Chanel #3's moms are, or if they're alive. Let's also assume both girls are, overall, on about the same level in terms of alibis/potential to kill someone else. You could EASILY shoot two endings that adequately explain the killer without things being a mess
How on earth is Chanel dynamic when every single scene she has so far is her being a selfish bitch? And no one is well layered, but people like Zayday and Grace (or, hell, even Chad) aren't homophobic, racist, classist bitches who enjoy making people's lives a living hell. The more unlikeable a character starts, the more important it is for them to have some kind of growth or development to be sympathetic. I don't hate Chanel as a character, she has her funny moments, but I will hate it if she lives based on what we've seen.
I guess that makes sense. But I still find it odd, because they're two different characters with two different backgrounds, so the hints leading up to saying who the killer is wouldn't necessarily apply to both-- that's in regard to any of the people being filmed as the killer at the end, not just the two you put up as an example.
And because everyone's been rather one-note. The main development that we think about and know with each character is just stuff we've heard from the producers rather than what we've actually seen in film. Most of Chad's lines are just as self-centered and insane as the things Chanel says, albeit not as problematic. You can be good and boring "sympathetic" all the time and still not be dynamic (See: Grace). I have no doubt any of the characters are going to go without some sort of development; Ryan was talking about Chanel's family, and I believe we meet them at some point based on what he said, so I'm looking forward to seeing what that might entail.

Well, obviously one is going to make more sense overall, but I more meant both would be plausible enough that it wouldn't be a ttal gimme.
No one has been as one-note as Chanel. Chad has his friendship with Boone (and seems to genuinely care about the DDS) #5 has the "I'm literally two minutes away from exploding/imploding" stuff, being Chanel's follower and getting pissed at her, etc. #3 will most likely be the surprisingly sympathetic Chanel. Etc. Even #2 went from being follower to guilt ridden (kinda) I'm not saying this is stellar character development, but it's nowhere near aas one-note and one-dimensional as Oberlin. But more importantly, no one is nearly as [b]unlikeable[b/] as Chnael.
Honestly, people overstate Grace's blandness. I'm not fan (and I like Chanel more), but she's hardly ANOES 2010 Rooney Mara. I'd rather see her live than Chanel. Likeable person and kinda bland > One note raging bitch as a final girl. Literally the #1 rule of filmmaking/TV making is your lead needs to be likeable or multi-dimensional. Chanel is neither so far, and hasn't shown a single sign of becoming one.
As said, IF she grows into a sympathetic character/multi-dimensional character, I'll obviously reconsider. But I can legitimately only judge from what I've seen. I would also like to point out the leads of everything that inspired Scream Queens weren't the mega-bitches and are meant to be sympathetic (Heathers, Mean Girls, Jawbreaker, Halloween, Scream, Urban Legend, etc.)

I just disagree. I realize Chanel's unlikable as a person, but we're meant to like her for that. The show's designed for those who are here for the biting ruthlessness that she embodies and exudes, and while that definitely doesn't line up with traditional horror movie survivors, this isn't a traditional horror movie. The only people who have died have been good-- Sophia, Ms. Bean, Chanel #2 & Tiffany were all likable and sympathetic, and although we didn't know Shondell too much she was a hoot for her 30 seconds of screentime and was working alongside the good guys. I think I've said it before, but I don't think the rules of any original horror film, including the ones that inspired this very show, apply.
And while Chanel's explanation for her meanness, stemming from her lack of love from her family, may seem like an off-handed comment that wasn't delved into as deeply as Chad's friendship with Boone, it's still realistic and something I understand well. A majority of what Chad's done is talk about his hotness and how he needs to sleep around and getting upset when Chanel doesn't want him to do that. On top of that, we have his friendship with Boone and his necrophilia, but I don't think that necessarily outweighs what else Chanel has going on in her need for her power and respect because she never got that from her own family. Chanel's may not be as fleshed out, but it's still just as real.
But capital M-E-S-S at you rather seeing Grace survive than Chanel. Chanel may be evil and Grace so far is not, but Chanel is enjoyable, and that's why people are here for the show.

I'm NOT saying I want a traditional horror survivor. I think the slashers genre desperately needs to completely dispose of rules for who should live/die. With the exception of I think the survivors need to be, ultimately, at least somewhat sympathetic. And obvi smart/resourceful/etc. Other than that? I think it'd be awesome to see best friends, bitches, jocks, jokesters, virgins, stoners, gay guys, non-whites, etc. all having a shot at the lead role. Just... I really do think it's important for a horror lead to be likeable, which might be PART of why I'm way less crazy about this show (the other part is I think it tries too hard, like Chanel #2's death and the backstreet boys scene) Also, to be fair, I didn't even say she WILL die, just that I think she should of she isn't more developed :P I'm a HUGE Madison fan but Chanel already feels stale to me because she's been SO used but doesn't have the layers to go with it.
The thing is that a lot of the explanations just make her less sympathetic. She knows how it feels to be treated poorly... And then ENJOYS tearing down other people. To put it in perspective, if I had abusive parents, I can't beat my own child and then expect sympathy because I'm just doing what's been done to me. I'd know how awful it is, and I'd have a responsibility to stop the trend there and not continue it (for the record, my parents aren't abudive, I don't have a kid, and I don't hit people ) Like, it'd be one thing if Chanel was unintentionally bitchy, but she actively enjoys it.
Developed + Sympathetic Chanel Living > Grace Living > Chanel As Is Living. At least for me. I'm not a grace fan either, but she at least hits the "leads aren't completely unlikeable as people" (which is one of my only rules)

Chanel is okay in my opinion, but I wish that she wasn't just the stereotypical problematic blonde girl that we're expected to like. I doubt we'll see much development in her, though. This show's a horror-comedy (or better yet, as Glen Powell called it in an interview, a comedy-horror) written by Ryan Murphy that features Ariana Grande and Nick Jonas. I want to see more depth in Chanel but we're probably not going to see it from a show like this.
Lol at y'all going back and forth in here. I think Chanel will get more character development later on. IF she dies it would more than likely be in the last few episodes, so I think as the show progresses we will get more of an insight into her. But for now, like Repo said, she's basically a one-trick pony. I really don't want Chanel #3 or #5 to die. I just think they are so funny! I also agree with what someone said earlier about Grace's mom not dying in a fire. I'm not 100% convinced she's the sorority baby, but I do think her dad is hiding something about her mother's death. She was clearly involved in some way to the 1995 incident. Tbh Grace and Diego are kind of cute but kind of boring. They're just the cliche pair that meet in the pilot and have a flirtatious relationship for the first few episodes then eventually things will begin to get steamier and then in the end one of them dies and the other will act like they don't know how to live without them.
Oh, and the Chanel-O-Ween was by far the funniest thing we've gotten from Chanel Oberlin so far. Lol.
