I legit did not listen to pop music until like 2009. The only pop songs I knew growing up were let's Get It Started (used in a school pep rally), Glamorous (saw an awards show performance and remembered it for its Taco Bell line), Beautiful (had no idea who sang it), oops...I Did It Again (my cousin had a karaoke thing for it), Sk8r Boi (a friend taught it to me), and I think two or three boy band hits, but I still don't know which group sings which ones.

Oh, and I also knew the chorus of Believe, but I thought a man sang it.

Listening to Emotion for the first time, and it's not doing it for me at all I just dislike her tone, and she doesn't seem to know how to convey emotion at all (pun not intended actually). Her vocal affectations don't add much to the songs. And her vocal style is somehow monotonous. It's either high, sweet tone to convey attraction, fun, begging, etc. or a low, digitally layered whisper to convey spookiness/mystery/"invitation", etc. She doesn't seem to know/do anything else.

I was born in 93 too.

"Disturbia" is the song that got me into pop music. A friend played it for me in gym class and I was hooked. I bought it on iTunes like two days before The Incident, and everyone at school was talking about it on Monday and I'm sitting there like "and I just started listening to her three days ago!"
