I mean, it should kind of end up that way because Ryan said this is some massive master plan thing, and looking back at E1 we should have a massive hint as to who the killer is. He has to have it planned and have it make sense, and having multiple endings (even if he doesn't plan on using the other two) can complicate and possibly ruin that.
But I still disagree on the latter part. No one else is layered/developed well yet. I'm sure you can say Chad or Hester, but I don't think they're any more dynamic than Chanel behavior-wise.

What we need is an explanation that makes sense of everything. But let's say that the bathtub baby is the killer. Now let's say we don't know who Chanel #5 OR Chanel #3's moms are, or if they're alive. Let's also assume both girls are, overall, on about the same level in terms of alibis/potential to kill someone else. You could EASILY shoot two endings that adequately explain the killer without things being a mess
How on earth is Chanel dynamic when every single scene she has so far is her being a selfish bitch?

And no one is well layered, but people like Zayday and Grace (or, hell, even Chad) aren't homophobic, racist, classist bitches who enjoy making people's lives a living hell. The more unlikeable a character starts, the more important it is for them to have some kind of growth or development to be sympathetic. I don't hate Chanel as a character, she has her funny moments, but I will hate it if she lives based on what we've seen.
